Hyperdrive engines were protected by the smaller sublight engines, guaranteeing a higher surveillance of them and opportunity for captain to retreat from the battle.īetween the dual laser cannons and engines was placed a hangar, which gave space for 18 Trill starfighters and 4 Ministry-class orbital shuttles. This warship was propelled by eight sublight ion engines, surrounding two hyperdrive engines, all emitting particles in the blue section of the visible spectrum. On top of that, in the middle section were placed four missile launchers, facing into 30° to both sides, able to tear apart a hull of capital ships in one volley. Another anti-starfighter protection were laser cannon batteries, consisting of six laser cannons behind the bridge section (three on each side), four dual laser cannons atop, under and on the sides in the middle section, which were also capable of dealing a damage to larger vessels, and four laser cannons on the sides of the engine section (two on each side). The armament of Thranta was generous for its time, possessing two dual heavy turbolasers on the sides of the bridge section, pointing forward, two dual turbolasers mounted atop and under the bridge section, giving the warship a 360° range to fire on enemy starships or starfighters. The Thranta, like the Hammerhead, was able to enter the atmosphere and land on the surface of the planet. Still, Thranta was also used independently as courier of important persons or defender of the prominent star systems in Outer Rim. The Thranta-class was supposed to be a main hitter of the fleets while Hammerheads were supporting them or even operating alone in distant star systems. This warship was the successor of the Hammerhead-class cruiser, designed by Rendili StarDrive, who also invented the Hammerhead-class.
The Thranta-class warship was a battleship in service with the Republic Navy during First Great Galactic War and Second Great Galactic War, being a workhorse of the Republic.
